What is the undergraduate Academic Plan?

An academic plan is a student-created semester-by-semester plan of the courses you intend to take at Iowa State. You will have access to an Academic Plan Template based on your current primary program of study. The Academic Plan is customizable to add additional coursework if you are planning on completing additional programs of study (minors, additional majors, etc.). Creating an academic plan is highly encouraged but not required.

Advantages of the undergraduate Academic Plan

After completing your academic plan, you can create a saved schedule for registration.  The Academic plan will also serve as a good resource to help develop a timeline to graduation. This is a tool intended to help guide your time at Iowa State. Please use this tool alongside your Academic Progress Report (APR) and guidance from your Academic Advisor.

How to create and update an undergraduate Academic Plan

As an undergraduate student, you are encouraged to develop a semester-by-semester academic plan to satisfy your program of study requirements for degree completion. You can create multiple academic plans, edit them, and share them with your academic advisor. Please refer to the KBA below for further instructions.
